In the Certificate course, students learn the basic elements of grammar, conversation practice, writing, reading and listening. A strong emphasis made on communication ability. Students are introduced to Thai consonants and their names, consonant classes, vowel symbols etc. After completing this course, the learners will be able to satisfy routine travel needs and minimum courtesy requirements like ordering simple meals, asking for shelter or lodging, simple directions, making purchases etc.

The language proficiency of learners will be as follows:
Ability to ask and answer questions on day-to-day topics. Ability to understand simple questions and statements, allowing for slowed speech, repetition, or paraphrase. Ability to express the most elementary needs.

This course is designed with the aim of focusing on the reading and writing skills. The students are taught Thai orthography. Vocabulary is built through conversational practice. Confidently handle most social situations including introductions, casual conversations like current events, work, family etc. Get the gist of most conversations on non-technical subjects, i.e., topics which require no specialized knowledge and a speaking vocabulary sufficient to express oneself. Speak with an intelligible accent. Handle elementary grammar constructions accurately.
